Did You Know...
Saliva testing is used in people for a myriad of things and is extremely common. Veterinarians have used saliva test or tears to test for feline leukemia since the early 1980’s. We use the same ELISA test for feline leukemia that is used by all veterinarians. The Feline Leukemia TEST at HOME has been sold and used by veterinarians for 20+ years.
Even though saliva tests have the same accuracy as blood in negative cats and is within 3% accuracy on positive cats (93-97% blood versus 91-95% with saliva) most veterinarian still ask you to test your cat with a blood test.
