The test solves all these questions:1)Detect if worms present (30% are negative) 2) Which specific worms are present 3) An approximate egg count to help you know how many worms are present before you worm and after you worm 4) What OTC wormer is best to use (Quest, Ivermectin, Panacur, etc.) 5) Determine if you have a resistance problem (17% of horses have resistance)  and finally 6) Did the wormer work. The EQUINE WORM TEST is the only way to insure the health and peak performance of your horse or other farm animals. Save $100-300/year in feed costs once your horse is free of worms. 70% of those who use our testing program have horses free of worms within 1 year and can avoid worming and avoid the high level of resistance that constant worming produces. Perfect Pet Products is a Licensed Veterinary Lab that provides AT HOME TESTING kits for worms in horses and worms in all animals. Perfect Pet Products  is the first company to do this 15 years ago, by far the largest, and unquestionable the best. EQUINE WORM TEST testing kits are used by veterinarians, e-commerce sites, catalogs, retailers, trainers, stables, and horse owners everywhere in the world.. 17% of horses are resistant to your routine wormer so you are just wasting time and money, plus you are making things worse. All animal owners/veterinarians understand why testing for worms is so necessary vs just worming since AT HOME testing kits help all animals live longer lives with enhanced performance by diagnosing worms not just throwing a drug at the problem and hoping that the wormer worked. 70% of the horses that use our tests are negative within 1 year and no longer need to have routine dewormers. The reasons you need these test kits are pretty obvious. THESE TESTS are AN INEXPENSIVE, ACCURATE, AND MORE CONVENIENT way to eliminate worms.  We provide an approximation of the number of worms(egg count) listed as small, moderate, or large numbers of worms but the McMaster test is a specific quantitative test to more accurately provide a specific number of eggs per gram of feces. You should request this test the first time you test and if you want to monitor the results of each wormer. We provide testing for FECAL EGG COUNT (McMasters TEST-$15), test for lungworms (Baermann TEST-$18), and fecal occult blood($15-same test that we use for ulcers or colon cancer) from the same sample if you request them. The only way to answers these questions is to use our EQUINE WORM TEST and FECAL EGG COUNT TEST. All equine specialists state that “You should perform a  EQUINE WORM TEST and FECAL EGG COUNT TEST before and 2 weeks after you worm”. Avoid over treatment and resistance.

Why are you worming every 2-3 months? 1 out of every 3 horses does not have worms AND 17% are resistant. In these horses you are wasting your time and money by routinely worming PLUS you are making the resistance problem worse. Every horse using your stable or sharing the pasture should be tested. All equine specialists state that “You should perform a fecal test 2 weeks before you worm to see if your horse/animal has worms and then 2 weeks later to be sure the wormer worked”. The advantages of Perfect Pet Products At HOME EQUINE WORM TEST and FECAL EGG COUNT TEST are:

ACCURATE- Perfect Pet Products veterinary staff performs the same accurate test as your veterinarian. More accurate than most Vets since we centrifuge/allow greater concentration of the worm eggs.

EASY-Just collect 1 tsp. of stool sample and mail to our Licensed Vet Lab via first class mail. Everything is included at this low price. Chech our shipping section for instructions on FedEx, special delivery, etc.

USED WORLD WIDE-we have repeat testing customers •from Australia, Singapore, China, Africa, Mexico, Canada, and many more counties with only positive comments and their thanks for providing these valuable kits.

What is and why do the McMasters FECAL EGG COUNT TEST Test? We provide an approximation of the number of worms(egg count) listed as small, moderate, or large numbers of worms but the McMaster test is a specific quantitative test to more accurately provide a specific number of eggs per gram of feces. Ideally, you should request this test the first time you test and if you want to monitor the results of each wormer. Request in horses and livestock (cattle, sheep, pig, goat, chicken, camel, alpaca, etc.) The modified McMasters technique which is a detailed quantitative test that provides a specific count of worm eggs/gram of feces for only $15.00. Ideally, you should request the McMaster the first time you test your horse and each time you retest until it is negative. Once negative or once you know which wormers worked you no longer need to use this test. If your horse was positive (resistant) you should use the McMaster each and every time until the sample is negative TWO consecutive times. Subsequent to that, and if your horses sample continues to be negative, just request the EQUINE WORM fecal test.

What is a LUNGWORM TEST (Baerman Test)? This is a test to use if your horse has any respiratory disease or seems to be winded too easily. It is a test for lung worms. We use the fecal sample to detect the actual live (larvae) lung worms. We perform the Baerman Technique for lung worms for an additional $18 payment-just mark the form and include payments or your credit card information.

Fecal Occult Blood Test for Horse Owners is only $15---this is the same test used in humans for colon cancer, ulcers, etc.--If your horse is a picky eater or doesn't maintain weight, ulcers, bleeding into the intestinal system, and other GI issues may be the underlying cause. Digestive issues can affect your horse's attitude and behavior as well. If your horse is withdrawn in his stall, is "girthy", or rebels in training, these may be external signs of internal discomfort. Even the horse's performance ability can be affected. WE often accept these behaviors as limitations of the horse's natural ability or attitude.

* Research in Australia, New Zealand, etc. has proven that animals with worms consume 10-30% more feed. Our testing service could save you $30-$100/month in reduced feed costs.

Testimonials-Q and A:

Perfect Pet Products staff,
Thank-you for taking the time to respond. As far as fecal and parasites are concerned, parasites eggs will not disappear from the fecal material over time. We have kept fecal material refrigerated for months and still get the same results on a fecal flotation examination. Fecal material that is not refrigerated is also fine for a week or so, but in hot and humid weather Strongyle type eggs will larvate fairly quickly, although the larvae can still be seen in the fecal examination. The only other issue with storing fecal material for long periods of time would be the growth of molds and fungi, this will not interfere with a fecal exam either. One thing to note that might be a problem is if the fecal material becomes desiccated over months. This may actually destroy some parasite eggs over a very long period of time. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else you need.

 Hadaway,
Got a couple of e-mails today concerning some questions you have about fecal analysis. I've been doing the diagnostics here at the U of Minnesota vet school for about 30 years and have a few opinions about fecal flotations (ancient they may be). Ascarid, whipworm and coccidia are very resistant and can be identified easily in old feces. Giardia can be reliably diagnosed using centrifugal flotation with ZnSO4 (1.18 sp. gr.). In reality, I see very few larval nematodes in small animals. My feeling is that you can do a reasonably good job using sugar flotation on three-5 day old feces. Rounds, whips, hookworms, strongyles, and coccidia will be there and easily identifiable. If you do see larval nematodes, do a retest. I personally think running fecals on horses is good preventative medicine. I don't know why they are not run on more horses. We are starting to see ivermectin resistance in all animal, especially sheep, I know will we'll start seeing it in horses more frequently because of the way that horse owners routinely worm without knowing whether they have worms or not. Hopefully this will answer some of your questions.  Feel free to write or call if you have more concerns.

Steve: I hope all is well with you. Dr. Schantz referred your question to me. Regarding your question of samples that are 2-5 days old. I recommend that pet owners either place samples in the refrigerator (many will not do that) or put them in a tightly capped container (or bag) that excludes air. Samples should be stored in a cool, dry location, out of direct sunlight (until they are mailed). If stored in this way, most stages will not develop to the point where identification is hindered. The problem with egg embryonation is that hookworm larvae will hatch from eggs. This is not problematic if you can identify hookworm larvae (many can't). It then requires that you differentiate these larvae from other parasites (i.e. Strongyloides, Aelurostrongylus, Filaroides, Angiostrongylus, etc.). I am presuming that you mean a sugar solution of 1.20 (instead of 1.020). If you do mean 1.20, the answer is yes. However, we recommend that fecal flotation solution be tested regularly with a hydrometer (obtainable from Fisher Scientific 800-766-7000 [catalogue no. 11-542B) to assure that the specific gravity remains at that level. Accuracy is the same for equine strongyles if the specific gravity is maintained. Many equine veterinarians do not conduct routine fecal examination because horses are usually on well-defined interval deworming programs. However, I agree that periodic fecal examination can be very helpful in detecting possible small strongyle resistance and also in detecting parasites not removed by broad spectrum dewormers. Hope to see you soon.

Ruth,
Thank you very much for your letter. I am especially impressed by the rapid response, but more impressively by the fact that you took the initiative to write this letter, without a request from me for the letter.
I do not want to take advantage of your thoughtfulness or time, however, we also discussed how fresh a fecal (stool) sample can be and still produce reliable results. Would you mind sending me a short letter explaining that the sample from pets or horses can be a week old and still produce reliable results.
Thank you very much.
Best Regards,
Dr. Steven Hadaway

Dr. Hadaway,
In reply to your inquiry the other day, the Veterinarians on staff at MSU recommend checking animals by running a qualitative fecal (flotation) exam both before and then again two weeks after worming. They tell all of the students that this is the proper protocol, so they are actually following the drug company recommendations.
Why veterinarians in the field ignore this I am not sure. It may be that the field veterinarians recommend the same, but the owners decide not to follow through. As you probably know owners can purchase horse wormers over the counter without going to a veterinarian. As far as worming animals for tapeworms, because the eggs or segments are usually not seen in fecal material, the veterinarians on staff here at MSU recommend a once per year worming for tapes with Praziquantal in the fall. I hope this helps.

I have a dog kennel to board a breed dogs and I used to have a veterinarian do a routine check for worms every couple of months, now with these test all I have to do is collect the samples and mail them in and wait for the results. The cost is half as much and I don’t have the trip and time it takes to deal with the Vets staff.  The samples are tested at a vet lab so it's the same type of results, but I also love the written results that I never get from my vet.  I save myself the money and time and get more information.  They tell me if the dog has worms, what kind of worms, AND then which type of wormer will work best.  Now nearly every dog I have and board is free of worms---that’s a great advertisement.  Perfect Pet Products staff,
I took your report on the worm test to the farm store and got a wormer for all of my dogs. This saved me at least $10.00/dog. After I wormed them I retested and all were negative. I promise you I will retest all of my dogs for worms twice a year and for heartworm once a year using your tests and the same Ivermectin for heartworm that I used for the worms.

P.S. Please feel free to use any of the above to promote your service. Hadaway,
This will be my second year using your product.  And, I sincerely thank you for it.  Like many people, I cannot bring my pets to vets because of the excessive costs.  I must treat them myself.  I'm going to be posting your product on many kiosks of the local trails that I use here.  If you start getting orders from Maine, maybe that will be the reason why.  At least, I hope I can help. Thank you for the work you do, too.

.Dr. Hadaway and Perfect Pet Products staff, I am writing to tell you how much I appreciate the service that you provide, almost as much as I appreciate the time and money that I saved.  It is nice to know that I can now more easily afford all of the tests that my pets need. Since I live in Michigan I know that my pets are exposed to a lot of bugs and other diseases that they carry. You have helped me provide a higher quality care for my pets.  I use your test for worms and was very happy with your speedy results.   Thank you, Mike Z.

Perfect Pet Products staff,
I just wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful products and service you provide. My family and I have two dogs, both mixed breeds that we got from the local animal shelter. We love and enjoy our pets very much, but found that taking them both in for medication and heartworm check-ups became costly. Your service is perfect because we (my neighbor works at a Vet. hospital) were able to get a blood sample easily and mail it in. I would recommend PPP products and services to anyone. I realize it is always wise to go to the vet if you think your pet is ill, but for the routine tests this service was great for me. Thanks again for helping me keep my dogs healthy and happy.
Sincerely, Jennifer Y.

Perfect Pet Products staff,
My 5 dogs and I live in southern Ill. where there is no vet real close. All my dogs had diarrhea for months. When one of them started to have blood, I ordered your worm test. Your test showed roundworms and hookworms. I was able to get the right wormers at the store. I thought they were all going to die, but now they are better than ever. I don't have a lot of money so I really could not take them to a vet. I retested 1 month later and they were all back to normal. I will test all my dogs at least once every 6 months or if they show any signs before that. I know I should test for heartworm and I will when I get enough money.
Thanks again, R. from Illinois

I've used these kits on my cats and dog and I love not having to make the trip to the vet. All you have to do is collect a sample, mail it, and then wait for results. Since some worms are invisible to the human eye I test all my pets at least once a year. You can buy over the counter worm remedies if you know your pet has worms and with this test you can also see if the wormer you bought worked. Smartest new item for pet owners.  Laura M.

Perfect Pet Products staff, I appreciate the money I saved on the worm test as well as the heartworm and Lyme disease tests. The samples were easier to collect than I thought when we did our usual nail trim. Your staff called me in 2 days with the results. I was relieved that everything was negative especially the lyme test since I know of pets and people who have had Lyme disease.    Regards, Michelle H. MI
